Day Seven: May 21 - Remember to take your camera! You never know when you will find a beautiful Ladies' Room!

Our adventure today took us to Yorkshire across the Midlands with a stop at Chatsworth House, one of Britain's most impressive stately homes. Impressions on the way: Ashbourne, Uttoxeter, Eccles Hall, Stafford...lovely villages and towns...less sheep/more cows...dry stone walls...brick, not stone, farmhouses...sun...perfect!

The dukes and duchesses of  Devonshire led interesting and intriguing lives featuring prominently in England's history and politics. Sixteen generations of the Cavendish family have lived here.

The detail is astonishing! Gilded windows in the courtyard!

And the works of art are breathtaking...

The dining room was set for lunch with Princess Victoria.

Tom toured the house but decided to sit in the car with Colin while I walked the grounds. I was crazy about the cascade.

The "Weeping Willow" really did weep!

We had lunch in the restaurant in the Stable Block - delicious!

Even the mosaic in the Ladies Room was gorgeous!

There were sheep everywhere!

We were delighted when we arrived in York to find that Middlethorpe Hall, our hotel, exceeded our expectations in every way! A lovely dinner and then sleep...
